Just wanted to let you all know about this interesting service I found.

Its a pretty cool place to collaborate with others on your music anywhere in the world. They have an audiounit plugin that will rewire and sync Logic over the internet... how crazy.

You're so right, I really wish the artist would have had a Leslie to mic up so I could have bypassed the DI route. I just added the DI so at the very least I had a great reference.
Thanks for the advice about EQing the chambers slightly different from each other. I couldn't close mic the each one since they don't make stands that reach up 30/40 feet. Hah ha, but I got really good sounds to work with. I had him place a mic where he thought the best seat in the house was. Any compressor in particular you would suggest for this project (outboard or plug-in)? I may end up renting something if I need to.
And I'll call Bob, sounds like a great contact. I'm sure he'll be able to answer a few questions for me. Thanks again.
I've got a question for you. I just finished tracking live organ in a large size church. The room was amazing so I placed mics around the room and near the chambers to capture the natural reverb in there. And I also patched in a DI to have the dry signal. I tracked everything thru analog gear into logic.
Now I am finally mixing and curious if you or anyone else has a few ideas on how to EQ the different chambers. The music is all classical with full orchestra sounds. I only used light compression going in to capture the dynamics of the music so most of the tracks have a very live sound.
So I'm just trying to figure out where to start with this mix-down and could really use some of your expertise. Thanks!
I totally agree, a computer will never replace a live musician. As you know, anybody can buy a DAW and learn how to use it, the hard part is learning how to be creative and innovative and not get the "produced in the box" sound. Hah ha, everyone thinks its so easy..
